The Challenge:

Back in 2006, Texas Screen & Glass Company implemented a custom Windows desktop application to manage their operations, including CRM (customer relationship management), sales, vendor management, inventory, order processing, service delivery, accounts receivable, and more. The software worked well for a while, but as business needs and technology evolved, the software became outdated. When they expanded from one primary location to six, the software struggled to keep pace and scale with the business. They came to a stalemate: They needed scalable software that would help them grow instead of holding them back, but couldn’t afford to halt operations to implement something new.

Key issues included:

  • The company migrated to Mac, requiring Parallels licenses to run the Windows app, adding complexity and cost.
  • New employee training on the outdated system was time-consuming.
  • Upgrading the legacy software was too expensive.
  • Specific hardware, like printers and scanners, was required for compatibility, making servicing difficult.

    The Solution:

B3 Software designed an innovative transition approach allowing Texas Screen & Glass to use both their old software and a new, modernized platform simultaneously. The old and new systems both pointed to the same upgraded database. This allowed for a smooth transition that did not interrupt business and kept information from falling through the cracks! On-premise servers and equipment were upgraded to support current needs and future growth.

Once all the employees were fully comfortable with the new system, Texas Screen & Glass Company retired their outdated system for good. The modern platform delivered immediate benefits like speedy QR code scanning for documents, replacing manual, error-prone processes.

    The Results:

“It brings a lot more power to us our sales team. It’s definitely faster than legacy and it has been a very good transition.  Everything feels like an improvement”
